I learned a lot about cancer since my mother was diagnosed on Oct 27th. She had been a “picture of health ” for many years and even at 76 was vital and alive. Then in May of 2010 she began to experience pain that she self diagnosed as H Pylori being the cause. So she made an appointment with a GI doctor who in an attempt to help her actually created a hyatal hernia. Since that time her health became an issue. Finally on Oct 20th I insisted she see a pulmonary doctor for shortness of breath ……..
From a fluid draw from her lung cavity to a phase IV ovarian Cancer diagnosis on Oct 27th. with 5 months to live without massive interventions which could possibly give her 6 months to 18 months more.
My mother chose to fight as she lived. In her days that remained she shared wisdom and courage and accepted GOD’s grace with the style that marked her life.
She asked that he take her home last Friday January 6th at 3:00 AM with a prayer to OUR GOD. By Saturday at 9:07 PM HE had prepared her place and accepted her while she was in the arms of her husband and son.
I learned
- I am not suited to work with those who have cancer.
- I am not capable of bearing the pain and grief of the families .
- I would love to help those who would have an interest in avoiding becoming a cancer victim.
MOM… “You will be missed but we are happy that GOD has accepted his Little Shirley. Enjoy you eternity until your friends and loved ones join you
